About the Society
The Albury Show Society traces its beginnings to 1857, when local settlers formed the first agricultural and horticultural society to showcase the region’s produce, livestock and skills. The early shows featured everything from wine and dairy to ploughing matches, stock displays and farm machinery, reflecting the growing district’s rural character.
Through the late 1800s the Society evolved, changed sites several times, and weathered depressions, relocations and fluctuating entries. By 1875, a revitalised committee re‑established the Show as a major regional event, eventually settling at Alexandra Park, where the Showgrounds remained until after World War II.
Today, the Albury Show Society continues this long tradition — led by a modern, community‑focused committee committed to celebrating local agriculture, supporting volunteers, and delivering events that reflect the region’s heritage and future.
